Next Lock In Event

Hi guys!

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to the Next lock in event. The night began at Apres , 'Londons best cocktail bar' situated just off Oxford street where we were treated to the best raspberry vodka drinks, champagne cocktails and canapes. I met some lovely bloggers there, we had such a great time, the atmosphere was amazing so if you happen to be walking past pop in!

After a few too many cocktails we almost sprinted to the Oxford Street store for some after hours retail therapy. We were given a royal welcome with a red carpet placed at the entrance and a glass of champagne in hand.

We had the chance to see the amazing Christmas '12 range up close and to choose our top 10 items from the collection! Here's my top picks for this season!

I also had £100 to spend on my winter wardrobe which I will share with you all tomorrow! I just want to thank Next for this amazing opportunity, I hope you all love my choices, I'd love to hear what you think!

Here are some more pictures of some of the lovely bloggers I met! I urge you all to visit their amazing blogs! Speak to you tomorrow, lots of love B xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Next's Beauty Blogger Event

Hi guys!

It has taken me far too long to find time to tell you all about Next's beauty blogger event on the 17th of October! University work has been taking over my life but I'm back!

I wasn't too nervous about getting the train by myself, however there was no way that I would survive the London Underground alone! I met Emma Kelly (see her blog here) so we could travel together, I can't say I was much help directions wise but we made it to the event on time! Amazing!

When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely Hemple Hotel staff with a glass of bubbly. To our right were beauty areas where we were treated to massages, manicures and eyebrow threading which were amazing (I'm such a fan of massages so I definitely took advantage of that).

The glossy displays that were packed with Nexts' new city fragrances excited me. I was able to chat with the team that actually made each of the four perfumes; London, Paris, New York and Milan to learn more about each of the fragrances.

London (my personal favourite) is described as a 'fresh floral composition with citrus burst, with top notes of lychee citrus, heart notes of peony rose and base notes of musk and cedarwood that will evolve a sense of individuality and creativity'. I would describe this scent as beautiful. If any of you have smelt the noble Chloe scent this one is unbelievably similar and only a fraction of the price. Click here to read my London reed diffuser review.

Milan is a 'vibrant fruity fragrance with a floral heart and a lingering woody base that conveys a stylish and fashionable edge'. I love wearing this scent, it reminds me of a versatile light melon scent  that can be worn everyday.

New York is a 'radiant, white floral fragrance with elegant jasmine and sun-kissed orange blossom. Inspiring and cosmopolitan, this blend is told to captivate and engage the senses'. The scent is closely compared to Paco Rabbane's Lady Million as they share similar base notes of patchouli, honey and amber.

'Paris is sensual fragrance enveloping a floral bouquet of jasmine and orchid with warm amber tones capturing an irresistible decadence, evoking Parisienne chic'. I thought this fragrance was very feminine, being closely comparable to CoCo Chanel.

The bottles are made up of a good quality, simple, modern glass finish, with pastel packaging which can be closely compared to the style of The White Company and Jo Malone.

Each of these scents are available as 'Eau de Parfum', 'Luxury Reed Diffuser', 'Fragranced Candle' and 'Body creme' here. If you happen to be walking past Next one day definitely try the City Fragrances and let me know what you think! If you're not from the UK I know that Next delivers to 59 countries however the fragrance cannot be returned if you are not 100% satisfied with it.

Gift sets from Next's famous Just Pink, Cashmere and diamonds range were also on display throughout the venue which I thought would make perfect gifts for Christmas!

I was lucky enough to receive a luxury goody bag which I have been loving since the event!

The bag included a variety of the city collection products and also Nexts' SPA purifying and exfoliating sugar body scrub which is a beautiful pot of gold; with scents of herbals and geranium, lavender and eucalyptus that create a premium spa scent to send you to complete tranquility. I love using this product on my legs, the crystalised natural sugars exfoliate my skin making it feel super soft and the gold shimmer leaves a subtle glow.

I met some lovely girls at the event! Please visit their blogs too!

Lots and lots of love, Bec xxx

New shoes!

Just wanted to share some perfect A/W shoes from NEXT with you!

Ankle boots are a definite essential to get you through this A/W. There are so many to choose from on the high street ranging from rugged looks to classic urban styles that can polish up your wardrobe in an instant!

I love these boots from Next, the heel is high enough to flatter your legs yet comfy enough for those busy days! The studded embellishment and metal detailing around the ankle adds an original, effortless touch that can bring dresses down to earth or vamp up your favourite skinny jeans.

These leather boots are available to buy in store or online HERE.

I realise that wearing suede flats in England isn't the most sensible because of all the rain but I couldn't resist these corsage ballerinas.

Apart from them being from the Sole Survivor range from NEXT they are super flexible and go with everything! With any shade of nude shoe your legs will go on for miles as there are no colour cut-offs, perfect for us shorter people!

These are also available in store or online HERE

I'd love to know what you think!

I can't wait to meet some of you Next bloggers at the fragrance launch in London tomorrow!

Lots of love, Bec xx

Finally a coat that I LOVE! *

Black Faux Fur Collar Coat by NEXT

Winter time is getting closer so over the past few weeks I have been keeping my eye out for the perfect winter coat. I absolutely love this one by NEXT as it looks and feels much more expensive than it actually is. The lining is made up of a beautiful animal inspired patterned fabric, with the outer coat made up of mostly polyester with unique details like the faux fur detachable colar, front pockets and belt situated on the lower back which helps the coat fit perfectly.

Because of the versatile colour, I feel as though I could wear it with almost anything casually or even to a smarter event because of its elegant edge. I normally wear a size 8 however in this coat I find a size 6 is large enough to wear a jumper underneath. BUY HERE  £75

I'd love to know what you think of this coat or any coats you've found this season!

My University Bedroom

Hi guys,

I thought i'd do an inspirational blog to give some ideas to any of you that are leaving home maybe to go to college or university or simply those that feel like re-designing your bedroom this year. I wanted my bedroom to have a  'french boudoir' feel to it. As you can see from the images I combined delicate pastel fabrics with some antique style pieces to create this traditional style.

I sourced my bed linen from Laura Ashley, it was quite pricey but definitely worth it as it's obvious the fabric is high quality. Sadly this is no longer available but NEXT have recently introduced a range of high detailed 'French Style' sets that have been inspired by Paris with intricate embroidery, delicate trims and soft ruffles that I urge you to check out! I've listed some of my favourites below.

My dressing table is actually supposed to be a desk, but for now there is no harm in stacking heaps of make up on it because i'm not back at university just yet...

I love my rose carved mirror, I bought this not long ago from Matalan, BUY HERE. Matalan is great for accessories just like this because they can make a huge difference to the 'look' of your bedroom for a reasonable price!

I cannot recommend this new reid diffuser enough by NEXT. You can see my full review of this item HERE.

I bought this antique style lamp not long ago from my local BHS where they offer a huge collection of quality lighting at good prices.

My wardrobe isn't that large but I cannot complain as I have plenty of drawer space. Hung up I have my gorgeous lace overlay dress £58 BUY HERE and my grey tweed jacket £69 BUY HERE both by NEXT.

I'd love to know what you think about my bedroom and I'd love to see some pictures of yours!

Take care, B xx

Liebster Award

I am so happy to say that I've been nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Little s, Big World. It was so nice to be noticed by you as this award goes to those blogs that are 'the best kept secrets' of the blogger world.

....

These are the rules:

  1. Each person tagged must post 11 things about themselves
  2. They must also answer the 11 questions the tagger has set for them
  3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag
  4. They must then choose 11 bloggers to tag with less than 200 followers
  5. These lucky bloggers must be told
  6. There are no tag backs
....

Here's 11 facts about me:

  1. My name is Rebecca, I'm 19
  2. I'm really small (5'3)
  3. My hair colour is now natural after dying it brown for years!
  4. I go to University in Liverpool and study Business
  5. I have worked for NEXT since May 2012
  6. My dream job would involve fashion and beauty marketing
  7. I love my family and friends an unbelievable amount
  8. I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Charlie Pom Pom (Diary Page)
  9. I met my boyfriend in primary school
  10. I have a serious addiction to sweets
  11. I love to get dressed up
....

Here are my 11 questions from Little s, Big World

1. If you could only wear one type of shoe for the rest of your life or go barefoot, which would you choose?

I'd probably choose to wear my black wedge boots for the rest of my life. This is because I find it so hard to find comfortable high shoes (to make me taller) so these would be perfect to wear during the day time or evening.

2. Do you prefer warm or cold climates and why?

I love the sunshine, but I always burn because I'm so pale so i'm glad that I live in a colder climate! I also prefer wearing my autumn/ winter clothes, nothing ever beats wearing comfy jumpers and scarfs.

3. A casting agent spots you on the street and asks you if you want to act - which movie genre do you choose to be in?

Definitely a rom-com because they're my favourite films!

4. If you could describe yourself as any ice cream topping, what would you be? (I'd be rainbow sprinkles)

Haha, strawberry sauce because I love sweet things!

5. Drink of choice? Coffee, coke, champagne? Take your pick!

Definitely the cheaper version of champagne, Lambrini

6. What kind of phone do you use?

I have a white IPhone that I've recently dropped so the glass on the back has smashed. I hope my mum doesn't read this...

7. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Richard Fleeshman. When I was younger I used to be obsessed! I wrote to him and he replied and sent me his autograph, cutie

8. If you could raid anyone's closet, who would it be?

It would definitely be everything on Atlantic Pacific's blog, I want all of her clothes...

9. What's your favourite item that you own?

I have so many favourite things that people have given to me that remind me of different times that I love. My favourite fashion items would probably be my mulberry handbags.

10. If you could live anywhere for a year and come back as though nothing had changed, where would you live?

deserted island would be lovely

11. If you won the lottery today, what is the first thing you would do?

I doubt that i'd stop going to university and not work for the rest of my life, I think that would make life boring. I'd give money to my friends & family and leave some to lead a comfortable life and do the things I want to do like travelling and definitely a bit of shopping!

....

Here are my questions for my nominees!

  1. Why did you start blogging?
  2. What has been your most embarrassing moment?
  3. If you knew today was your last day on earth, how would you spend it and why?
  4. If you had one wish, what would you wish for?
  5. If you could only have three electrical appliances in your house, what would they be and why?
  6. If you could be invisible for a day, where would you go and what would you do?
  7. Sweets or chocolate?
  8. How many drinks does it take before you get drunk?
  9. What is your biggest phobia?
  10. What is your dream job?
  11. What would you do with £1,000,000
....

Here are my nominees!
....
I absolutely love reading your posts and I'm looking forward to your replys!

Lots of love, Bec xx

Hand treats!!

Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been either ill (alcohol related) or working so to cheer myself up I bought a few things that I thought i'd share with you all!

I've been trying to grow my nails, so there's no better way to encourage myself to do this than to buy some nail treats!

Starting with the polishes (from left to right)- I picked up the first from Superdrug just because me and my friend thought that it was a really unusual colour, it's made by Barry M and is called Blue Moon. I have no other way to describe the colour than blue tac with a slightly darker iridescent shimmer to it. The application is the same as other Barry M varnishes, I found that 3 coats gave me even coverage. In comparison to other varnishes now on the market, the drying time is poor but well worth the £2.99 from Superdrug. BUY HERE

My next varnish is called 'Razzmatazz' by Topshop. I am in love with this varnish!

It's a mixure of silvery, lilac, holographic glitter with larger hexagonal sequins that give you disco ball nails! The only downside is that you need around 4/5 coats of this to get the complete glitter effect to avoid the dreaded transparent look. This varnish can also be used with any of your other favourite varnishes to create a sparkly topcoat. It's a shame that my nails or the pictures do this varnish justice but this is available from Topshop at £6.00. BUY HERE

The final varnish I bought was 'Sea Mist' by Topshop.

This is a beautiful metallic silvery blue/green that looks amazing in natural light. This picture was taken after just one coat showing that the application is incredible! This varnish is also available from topshop for £6.00. BUY HERE

To take my nail varnish off I always use 'Quickies' from Superdrug BUY HERE for £2.09. They feel as though they nourish my nails with added vitamin B5 as well as removing my nail varnish well and 'quickly'. These are really handy to pop in your bag if you're traveling anywhere!

I also ran out of my Nivea soft moisturising cream this week. I have to be so careful with my skin because it's very sensitive so I tend to stick to the same things. I use this cream after washing my face at night, before applying make-up in the morning and on my hands too, to keep my skin feeling nourished and looking healthy. It also has a really fresh smell!

To make my hands look a teeeeny bit nicer I treated myself to the Pandora rings that I've been craving for a while!

I love how every piece in Pandora is so build-able and unique. One of my friends bought me the ring with the black stone a while ago for my birthday so since then I've been waiting for the perfect rings to be designed compliment this one.

I love how each of these rings are so understated, yet when they are combined they create an eye-catching unique effect.

If you go to the Pandora website there is an application where you can design your own ring stack, however, the prices of each vary according to the material and stone. BUY HERE

I'd love to hear all of your opinions on my purchases!

Love Bec x
